The death of a teenage boy whose beaten body was found in scrubland near a Docklands Light Railway station in London, is now being treated as murder.
Detectives are investigating and the 16-year-old's next of kin have been informed.
The youngster received 'suspicious' head injuries and it is believed he was found by commuters at around 8.30am on Tuesday.
The Met put in a section 60 order allowing officers to stop and search for the whole of Newham until 6am today.
A cleaner at the Gallions Reach station, Emiliano Cordona told the Evening Standard: “We are all shocked by this. The trains had to be suspended while the police investigated.
“We have no idea how the body got there. It’s next to a busy road. We don’t know if the poor boy was dumped there. It’s just horrible.”
Josh Szavo, who works in the area, told the Newham Recorder: "I've never come across any trouble down here.
"You don't see people hanging around here at night just people getting off the DLR. This makes you feel insecure."
A Met Police spokesman said: “Detectives are investigating following the discovery of a body in Newham.
"The male — believed to be a 16-year-old boy — was pronounced dead at the scene.
"He is thought to have suffered a head injury. The death is being treated as suspicious.
"The Specialist Crime Command have been informed and are being supported by colleagues from the North East Command Unit.
"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries continue.”
