Boy, 16, electrocuted to death after climbing pylon to take selfie

A teenager died after climbing an electricity pylon to take a selfie.

Shocking footage shows Nikolay Kompaniets, 16, from Ukraine freely clambering up the 100ft structure without any safety gear.

On his way down from the tower, he tripped and plunged several feet down onto the pylon's arm.

He was electrocuted as he hung several feet in the air.

His 14-year-old friend who friend who filmed the scene called eyewitnesses for help.

The injured teen was rushed off to a local hospital but died from severe burns.

He scaled the pylon because he wanted to take "impressive selfies", according to local reports.

Shocking footage shows the teen, dressed in a grey shirt and orange shorts, clambering down the high voltage beam as his friend filmed him.

The Ukrainian authorities are deciding whether to take legal action against the boys’ parents for “failing to perform their childcare duties”.

In June, a teenager was spotted scaling up The Shard, London's tallest building, in a shocking feat.

George King, 19, who works as a personal trainer, completed his climb in 45 minutes with no safety equipment.

He said he spent a year preparing for the big climb and moved to Leyton for eight months to train for the daring stunt.
