A teenage boy died seven months after he was shot in the head on the city’s Southeast Side.
Nathan Maldonado, 16, was walking down the street shortly before 8 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2018, when someone in a passing vehicle opened fire in the 10900 block of South Ewing Avenue, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Maldonado, who lived in the same block, was shot in the back of the head and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said. He was pronounced dead at Christ at 10:41 a.m. on Sunday.
An autopsy Tuesday found he died of delayed complications of his gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
No arrests have been made and the case remains under investigation by Area South detectives.
