Boy, 16, critically wounded in Marquette Park shooting

A 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Monday in Marquette Park on the Southwest Side.

He was on the sidewalk about 6:48 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Francisco Avenue when someone approached him and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The teen was hit in the abdomen and took himself to Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. He will be transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital.

No arrests have been reported. Area Central detectives are investigating.
