Boy, 16, charged over video showing schoolboy giving Nazi salute outside Scots synagogue

A teenager has been charged after video emerged of a schoolboy allegedly giving a Nazi salute outside a synagogue in Giffnock.

Footage had been circulating around social media of the alleged incident.

A Twitter user who posted the video online said that it was allegedly distributed on Snapchat and Instagram.

The footage was been condemned by local MP Paul Masterton and has demanded that the schoolboy issues a personal apology to the local Jewish community over the act.

He said: “So disappointed and angry to learn of this incident outside Giffnock Synagogue.

“Completely unacceptable and the boy is old enough to know better. This isn't some silly joke and it's right that the Police are taking this seriously.

“I'm sure both the lad's school and parents will ensure he gives a full, personal apology to the Rabbi and local Jewish Community in the coming days.”

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy in connection with the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 16 year-old-boy has been charged and is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal and the Scottish Children's Reporters Administration in connection with the incident."
