Boy, 16, taken to hospital after falling from roof of old building in Gorseinon

A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital after falling from the roof a building in Gorseinon .

The incident happened at a disused building off West Street in the town at around 6pm on Thursday.

An air ambulance landed at the scene and the child, who is thought to have fallen from a height of at least 20ft, was taken to hospital.

Police officers and a fire crew from Gorseinon also attended the incident.

An eyewitness said: "The child fell about 20ft after climbing onto the roof of the old MOT building in Gorseinon.

"It looked as though the child fell through the roof."

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 6.11pm on Thursday alerting us to an incident in an industrial estate in Gorseinon.

"A teenage male had fallen a minimum of 20 feet from the roof of a building.

"A fire crew from Gorseinon was sent to the scene and assisted the ambulance service with first aid and were involved in clearing the area to make way for an air ambulance helicopter to land."

South Wales Police has confirmed that the boy was taken to Morriston Hospital with "several fractures" but that his injuries are described as "non-life threatening".
