Boy, 15, suffers knife injuries after large-scale disturbance in Newton Mearns

A teenage boy was rushed to hospital for knife injuries after a large-scale brawl in Newton Mearns last night.

Officers were called to a field in the town around 7.30pm after receiving reports of a disturbance involving a group of youngsters.

The 15-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “At around 7.30pm of Saturday, April 13 the police were called to reports that a 15-year-old boy was injured at Waterfoot Road in Glasgow following a disturbance.

"The boy was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and treated for his injuries. He has since been released."

Inquiries are ongoing.
