Boy, 15, fighting for life after being hit by ambulance responding to 999 call

A boy is fighting for his life after being struck by an ambulance as it responded to an emergency call.

The teen suffered a serious head injury after being hit by the emergency vehicle in Walsall.

Emergency crews – including the Midlands Air Ambulance – swooped on Lichfield Road shortly at 5.30pm following reports of the horror smash between the emergency vehicle and the pedestrian.

West Midlands Police blocked off part of the busy commuter road as medics worked at the scene tonight, reports Birmingham Live .

The full extent of the boy’s injuries are unknown at this time. The road was closed for several hours while investigators surveyed the scene.

It eventually reopened at 9.30pm.
