Boy, 15, dies as car crashes into lorry in summer holiday horror

A teenage boy has died after he was critically injured in a horror crash between a car and a lorry.

The 15-year-old boy had been rushed to a children's hospital following the collision in Gloucester last Thursday near the end of the summer holiday for pupils.

Police confirmed that the boy, from Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, had tragically lost his fight for life.

A 66-year-old woman was also injured in the collision between a Toyota Rav 4 and an Iveco drop side lorry at 3.30pm. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The injured boy was taken to Bristol Children's Hospital for treatment, GloucestershireLive reports.

On the day of the crash, a woman claiming to be the boy's aunt wrote on social media that he was airlifted to the hospital in Bristol and was in a critical condition .

She wrote that his carer was also injured.

The road was closed for more than six hours afterwards for a full police investigation.

Witnesses said several police cars, fire engines and ambulances were on scene.

Police are appealing for dashcam footage or witnesses to the incident.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Constabulary said previously: "Police were called to Metz Way in Gloucester shortly after 3.30pm following reports of a serious collision involving a car and lorry.

“Officers would like any witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident 248 of August 27.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
