Boy, 15, arrested after man left with serious injuries following stabbing in Bolton

A teenager has been arrested after a man was stabbed and left with serious injuries.

The 15-year-old boy is thought to have been part of a group who assaulted the victim on Gargrave Avenue, in Bolton's Johnson Fold estate.

Police were first called to the area at around 4.45pm yesterday (Monday) and closed off the street for much of the evening.

An air ambulance was called to the scene and the victim, a 21-year-old man, was rushed to hospital where he is still being treated.

One witness, who asked not to be named, said she saw the horrific aftermath of the assault.

"I didn't know what to do with myself, where to look or anything," she said.

A number of roads near Gargrave Avenue were closed off and crime scene investigators were brought in to examine the area.

Officers are continuing their enquiries into the incident and further information is expected to be released today.
