A teenager is fighting for his life after getting trapped under a tram in front of horrified families in Blackpool.
The 14-year-old suffered "significant injuries" and remains in a critical condition in hospital following the incident at 9.50pm last night at Blackpool's annual Ride the Lights event.
Fire crews freed the boy from under the tram using specialist equipment before he was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
A fire service spokesman said: "We were called out to reports of a boy being trapped under a tram in Promenade at 9.50pm last night.

"Two units from Blackpool and South Shore attended the scene and we used specialist tram equipment to jack the carriage up, to allow us to rescue the boy.
"He has suffered significant injuries and paramedics took him to Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool."
All tram services were suspended after the incident, with some passengers reporting they were stuck on one for two-and-a-half hours.


One person tweeted: "We were in that very tram which had the accident this late evening. It was awful."
Another added: "Had a great ride at Blackpool's Ride the lights tonight but sadly seems that at the end would appear their was some sort of collision involving a cyclist and a team towards the end of the evening which I didn't see happen."
The Ride the Lights event sees hundreds of family cycle along the promenade and get a preview of Blackpool Illuminations.
