A 14-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being stabbed multiple times when a knife fight involving "more than a dozen" people broke out in a park.
The youngster is in a serious but stable condition after he was knifed on a basketball court in Burbury Park, Birmingham, West Midlands.
Police are investigating the attack which happened just after 7pm.
Witnesses said they saw “more than a dozen people all fighting” and many with knives.
One said: “They are all going for each other on the basketball court.
“It’s getting crazy seeing these young kids with knives. It scares me that there are children trying to kill children.
“I worry for my brother’s children, who are only young. Growing up in these times is bad.”
Burberry Park, in the Lozells area of the city, today remained closed off to public access.
Detectives could be seen this morning examining the basketball court. Officers stood guard on entry and exit points.
There have not been any arrests yet.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “We’re investigating after a teenager was stabbed in a Birmingham park last night (April 13).
“The 14-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times in Burbury Park in the Lozells area of the city just after 7pm.
“He was taken to hospital for treatment where he remains this morning. Fortunately his injuries are not life-threatening.
“We’re holding a scene in the park while forensic examinations are carried out.”
“We know that getting knives off our streets is important to you.
"We’re doing lots, but we need your help too. Stopping knife crime is everyone’s job.”
