Boy, 14, seriously injured in hospital after Greenfield school playground attack

A 14-year-old boy is in hospital after being attacked by a group of men with large heavy bladed weapons in Lightburn.

The teenager was playing with his friends on the grounds of St Andrew's High School on Torphin Crescent around 6pm on Thursday, May 28 when they were approached.

The group consisted of four or five men who were all wearing dark clothing.

The teenager suffered serious injuries to his body and was rushed to hospital where he remains.

Officers are appealing for anyone with information on the attack to come forward.

Detective Constable Claire Cunningham said: "The boy was playing with his friends when they were attacked by the group within the grounds of the school.  He is currently recovering in hospital.

"The reason for the attack is unknown at this time and we are looking to trace four or five males who are described as all wearing dark clothing.

"Anyone who knows who is responsible or has any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3341 of Thursday 28 May, 2020, or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
