Boy, 14, makes £150K playing Fortnite 18 hours a day and 'never goes to school'

A teenage boy has made £150,000 by playing video game Fortnite for up to 18 hours a day.

Griffin Spikoski, 14, records himself playing and uploads the videos on YouTube.

The huge popularity of his videos has earned him huge cash payments from sponsors, advertisers and donations.

The New York teen, who goes by the name Sceptic online, spends between eight and 18 hours playing the game everyday.

Instead of going to school he does online education courses which fit around his gaming, reports the Sun, but his dad Chris stresses that homework always comes first.

Even Griffin believes he's playing the popular game "too much".

He told ABC: "I play a lot, like eight hours and at the weekends I play up to 18.

"It's definitely a lot.

"You've got to be patient and you've got to have dedication."

When asked if he thinks he should cut back, he says: "It's kinda like my job."

But Griffin it being very sensible with his new riches and is saving all the money for when he's older.

He said: "I'm just going to save it. If this goes down or whatever I can use it on college, a house, anything."

Fortnite is a popular strategy survival game for  PlayStation 4  ,  Xbox One  , Windows, and Mac.

It combines Minecraft resource collecting and building with team based survival shooting  games .

The main action, in the Save The World mode, is shooting and attacking with melee weapons, but players can also build fortifications and work with teammates to defend survivors from waves of enemy monsters.

This combines with exploration and resource gathering to play a little like  Minecraft  .

Fortnite leapt to greater popularity with its Battle Royale mode that can be played for free and pits up to 100 players against each other while a mysterious cloud steadily reduces the size of the war zone, creating knife edge and climatic gun fights.
