Boy, 14, attacked by teen near East Kilbride pub

A 14-year-old boy was attacked near a St Leonards pub on Saturday night.

Police say he was punched and kicked to the head and body by another teenager.

The victim managed to escape his attacker and make his way to the nearby Bonnie Prince Charlie for help – police say medical attention was not required.

PC Lucie Black told the East Kilbride News: “A group of youths were gathered near to the Bonnie Prince Charlie when a 14-year-old boy was approached by another male who engaged him in conversation before assaulting him. Enquiries are ongoing.”

It is the latest incident in spate of violence in the town as reported in the News last week.

We told you how a 24-year old was hospitalised with facial injuries following an incident on Murray Road on the night of April 11.

A bloodied tissue lay near to the scene the next day, with locals reporting the individual had been “slashed”.

Shop workers in Murray Square said it was just one of a spate of violent attacks in the area with a rammy the night before that attack.

Police have released a description of the suspect involved in the latest incident in St Leonards.

He is described as a white male, around 14 years of age wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts.
