Boy, 14, 'assaulted' in Consett after 'accidentally' throwing snowball into road

A 14-year-old boy suffered facial injuries during an alleged attack after he was confronted by three men for 'accidentally' throwing a snowball into the road.

Police have launched an appeal after the alleged incident which happened on Sunday, January 10, at about 5.30pm in Consett.

Officers believe three men from separate vehicles stopped to confront the teenager after a snowball was "accidentally" thrown on the A692 between the Grove and Morrisons, in Consett.

Consett Police has released descriptions of three men they wish to speak to and are appealing for anyone with information into the incident to come forward.

A spokesperson for Consett Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old boy suffered facial injuries in a suspected assault.

"Three men from separate vehicles stopped to confront the teenager after a snowball was accidentally thrown on the A692 between the Grove and Morrisons, in Consett on Sunday, January 10, at about 5.30pm.

"One man is described as wearing a Nissan uniform and driving a white Mercedes. A second is described as wearing dark clothing and with black hair and another is believed to be in his mid-30s.

"A black Ford Fiesta is believed to have been involved.

"The victim suffered cuts and bruises in the incident.

"Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 285 of January 10."
