Boy, 14, arrested in connection with death of Castlemilk 'legend' Daniel 'Zippy' McGuigan

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the death of Castlemilk man Daniel "Zippy" McGuigan.

Police confirmed the arrest of a 14-year-old boy on Saturday morning.

Daniel 'Zippy' McGuigan, 35, was brutally attacked in Stravanan Street, Castlemilk at around 10.50am, on Friday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tributes poured in for the local 'legend' online.

People have been taking to social media to pay their respects after Daniel 'Zippy' McGuigan was named locally as the victim of the brutal assault (UGC)

The Castlemilk Community page said: "What can you say other than another hugely sad and dark day for our community.

"RIP Castlemilk legend Daniel “Zippy” McGuigan."

"Victim of a brutal and senseless attack this morning."

Deneil Shariff said he couldn't believe what had happened to Daniel.

He wrote: "R.i.p zippy Daniel McGuigan. Tmusk legend, never forget ye bro ye wur sum boy canny believe this hus happend."

Laura Sanderson said on Facebook: "Rest easy zippy, u are one in a million thoughts are my family at this sad time."

Sean Lynch called Daniel a legend.

He wrote: "Rip brother always in our hearts you'll be truly missed legend of a boy "

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death are continuing."
