A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a girl was raped at a popular beauty spot.
The girl was subjected to the horrifying attack at Hollingworth Lake, in Rochdale, at about 6.40pm yesterday (Wednesday, June 2), police say.
Officers attended the scene and arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of rape boy a short time later.
He remains in custody.
Police say they are not looking for anyone further in connection with the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing PCs and forensics officers near the lake on Wednesday evening.
Detective Inspector Sam Taylor, from GMP's Rochdale district, said: "This was a shocking incident that was extremely distressing for the girl involved.
"Our thoughts are with her while she receives the specialist care and support needed.
"At this moment, we are not looking for anyone further in connection with this incident, however we will continue to be present in the area to provide reassurance to the local community.
"Anyone who may have seen anything or has any information is asked to get in touch to assist with our investigation."
