Boy, 13, missing for a month as police 'exhaust all options' in search

Police have issued an urgent appeal to help find a 13-year-old boy missing for a month.

Officers said they have "exhausted" all options trying to to find Archie Austin and are now asking members of the public for help.

The 13-year-old was first reported missing in Basildon, Essex on July 10.

Police have released a photo of him with brown hair, dark brown eyes and dressed in a black hoodie with a white motif printed at the front.

Anyone who has seen Archie or knows his whereabouts are urged to get in touch with the police.

Essex Police said on Twitter : "We're concerned about 13 y/o Archie Austin who's missing in Basildon & are asking for your help to find him.

"Archie was reported missing on 10 July & we’ve carried out extensive enquiries to find him.

"We’ve now exhausted those so are asking you for your help.

"Any info call 101."

Essex Police have addressed concerns about Archie's appeal.

They wrote on Facebook: "When someone goes missing there are often many things that are considered and many different investigative opportunities that are looked at before we decide to ask for your help.

"As with much police work, these lines of enquiry take place away from the public gaze but just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they’re not taking place.

"Sometimes an appeal for the public’s help isn’t always appropriate or necessary straight away.

Since Archie went missing we’ve carried out a significant number of enquiries but we’ve exhausted them all now which means we’re now asking for your help."
