(Picture: Google Maps)A boy has been hospitalised after being attacked by a dog in east London.
The boy, aged 13, was bitten by the dog at a bus stop on Burdett Road, opposite Mile End Leisure Centre around 4pm on Thursday. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Video of the incident by shocked onlookers showed police officers approaching the brown dog with an animal control pole.
The officer could be seen attempting to get the dog under control, while another stood on guard with a fire extinguisher.
A member of the public capturing the incident could be heard saying: “It bit the poor kid, look.”
The crowds were then ushered away from the incident as an ambulance arrived for the boy.
The dog has since been recovered while enquiries are ongoing to find its owner.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “Police were called by the London Ambulance at about 15:55hrs on Thursday, 2 February to reports of a child bitten by a dog at a bus stop on Burdett Road, E3.
“Officers attended. The 13-year-old boy has been taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not life-threatening.
“Enquiries to trace the owner are ongoing. The dog has been recovered by police.”
