Boy, 13, dies after horror incident on River Clyde

A 13-year-old boy has died following a horror incident on the River Clyde.

Emergency services raced to the scene near Garrion Bridge in Larkhall after the youngster got into difficulty in the water at around 3.15pm on Sunday, June 13.

Ambulance crews attended and the boy was rushed to Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children for treatment.

Police confirmed this morning that he has tragically died.

Locals say it is a popular spot for youths to congregate despite the current being “really strong”.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 13-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty in the River Clyde, near Garrion Bridge in Larkhall.

"Emergency services were contacted around 3.15pm on Sunday, 13 June, 2021.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
