Boy, 13, dies after getting into difficulty in River Clyde at Larkhall

A young boy has died after getting into difficulty in the River Clyde.

The 13-year-old was pulled from the water near Garrion Bridge in Larkhall around 3.15pm on Sunday and rushed to Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children.

However, it has since been confirmed that the boy has sadly passed away.

Locals reported that emergency services, including a helicopter, descended on the scene after the alarm was raised.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "A 13-year-old boy has died after getting into difficulty in the River Clyde, near Garrion Bridge in Larkhall. Emergency services were contacted around 3.15pm on Sunday, 13 June, 2021.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death."
