Boy, 13, arrested after police officer assaulted in drug bust

Three people, including a 13-year-old boy, have been arrested after a police officer was assaulted and 17 bags of cannabis were recovered.

Merseyside Police arrested two men and a teenage boy after a police officer was assaulted and bags of drugs were found at a house in Netherton.

At around 10am on Thursday, February 10 officers executed a warrant on a house on Coventry Avenue.

Whilst searching the house officers found seven bags of white powder suspected to be class A drugs, 17 bags of cannabis, scales, snap bags, mixing bowls and cash.

A 13-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man from Netherton were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

Another 23-year-old from Netherton was arrested on suspicion for assaulting an emergency worker and possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs.

They were initially taken to a police station in Merseyside and have since been released.

Superintendent of Sefton Community Policing Graeme Robson said: “These arrests show the risks our officers take to do everything possible to locate and seize any drugs that could be hugely damaging to our communities.

“Those who deal drugs bring violence and fear to our streets in order to carry out their illicit trade. Thanks to a thorough search at the property, a large amount of drugs has been taken off our streets that could have caused harm to vulnerable members of our communities.

“If you believe there is drug dealing happening in your area, please contact police so we can bring offenders to justice and safeguard any victims.”
