Four teenagers are in hospital after a car being chased by police ploughed into a fence, slid down an embankment and ended up being submerged in water.

Officers began to pursue a suspected stolen VW Golf after it failed to stop on Loxham Street, in Moses Gate, Bolton, at around 12.25am this morning (Wednesday, January 22).

After a short distance the car was found to have smashed into some wooden fencing.
