Boy, 12, taken to hospital after collision with car near a school

A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

Emergency services responded to a 999 call on Friday morning following reports of a crash. Cheshire Police confirmed the incident happened shortly after 8am on June 17 near to Whitby High School in Ellesmere Port.

The road was cordoned off, Cheshire Live reports. The young boy was taken to the Countess of Chester hospital as "a precaution".

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "At 8.10am this morning (Friday 17 June) police were called to a collision on Sycamore Drive, Whitby, involving a pedestrian and a car. The pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy, was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital as a precaution."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added they responded to a collision involving a pedestrian after a "999 call at 8.04am. A boy was taken to hospital."
