Boy, 12, 'starved and chained to bath as dad and stepmum filmed slow death'

A 12-year-old boy was allegedly starved, chained to a bath tub and subjected to a slow and painful death by his dad and stepmother.

Police discovered restraints reportedly used by Luis Posso and Dayana Marina Flores on Eduardo Posso, including chains, shackles and a shock collar for dogs.

It is alleged there was video footage and pictures of the boy, and even a cruel selfie the dad took with his shackled son.

A security camera was tied to the towel rail to keep watch as Eduardo's health deteriorated, authorities say.

On Friday, Eduardo stopped breathing and died within 10 minutes of arriving at a hospital in Bloomington, Indianapolis, where he was taken by his father.

Eduardo had bruises all over his 'skeletal frame' and investigators believe the abuse could have gone on for months, WTHR reports.

Monroe County Coroner Joni Shields said he was "severely emaciated, weighing approximately 50-55 pounds."

"There was definitely signs of severe starvation and abuse as well."

Eduardo reportedly had zero percent body fat at the time of his death.

The pair of travelling circus promoters face charges of felony neglect, battery and confinement.

Once a official cause of death is established by a coroner, they could also face murder charges.

While the couple worked with three other children, aged nine, five and two, they would leave Eduardo chained to the bath in the hotel room without food, it is alleged.

The younger stepbrothers and sister were said to be perfectly healthy.

Posso and Flores allegedly said they abused Eduardo because he "acted up more than the other kids."

But the couple denied starving him.

Police were called to the hospital on Friday morning to investigate Eduardo's death.

The family were staying in a hotel having only been in Monroe with the circus for a week.

Police conducted a search of their room, where they reportedly found the offending restraints.
