Boy, 12, seriously injured after crash in Bolton

A 12-year-old boy has suffered serious injuries in a crash in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Crompton Way shortly after 8am this morning (Tuesday, November 17).

Paramedics treated the boy, who had been left with head injuries after being struck by a vehicle.

He has been taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.

Crompton Way remains taped off in both directions close to the junction with Tonge Moor Road.

Traffic is being diverted along other roads in the area.

GMP Bolton North tweeted: "Crompton Way is currently closed due to an RTC.

"There’s no access to Sandileigh Drive or Hall i’th Wood.

"Traffic is being turned around on Crompton Way back to Blackburn Road and is closed at the junction with Tonge Moor Road."

A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service added: "We were called to Crompton Way, in Bolton, shortly after 8am.

"It was a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

"A male patient, who was approximately 12, suffered serious injuries.

"He was taken to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital."

Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for further information.
