Boy, 12, left in critical condition after hit-and-run in broad daylight

A 12-year-old boy was left fighting for his life after he was hit by a car which then fled the scene in north London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service shortly after 4pm on Friday to a collision in Wembley.

The boy was struck by a white Nissan SUV with a broken headlight, police say.

Video taken by a passing-by pedestrian shows police officers attending the scene where they found the boy with serious injuries.

He was rushed to a hospital in north London where he remains in a critical condition.

His next of kin have been informed.

No arrests have been made but the police have launched an appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

In the statement released by the police, it read: "Officers from the Roads and Transport Policing Command are appealing for information following a fail to stop collision this evening that has left a young boy in a critical condition.

"Police were called by the London Ambulance Service on Friday, 13 September at 16:07 hours to a collision in Grande Parade/Forty Avenue, Wembley.

"Officers attended and found a pedestrian, a 12-year-old boy with serious injuries. No arrests at this stage.

"Anyone with information on this car or any witnesses should contact the police on 101 quoting CAD 5308/13 September."
