Boy, 12, in serious condition after falling through roof at leisure centre

A 12-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after he fell through a roof of a St Helens leisure centre.

Merseyside Police  are currently at the scene of the incident at Parr Swimming and Fitness Centre.

At around 6.20pm, emergency services were called to the premises following reports that three youths had been seen on the roof.

One of the children, a 12-year-old boy then fell through the roof, the Liverpool Echo reports.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "The child has been taken to hospital in a serious condition where his injuries will be assessed.

"Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."
