Boy, 12, in serious condition after being hit by car while riding an e-scooter

A 12-year-boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car while he was riding an e-scooter.

Emergency services - including an air ambulance - raced to the junction of Hylton Road and Verney Crescent, Allerton, this morning.

Police confirmed a boy riding an electric scooter was hit by a black Ford Fiesta just before 10.30am.

The 12-year-old was rushed to Alder Hey Children's Hospital where his condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

The driver is reported to have stopped at the scene and is assisting police.

Hylton Road remains closed as police continue their investigations into how the accident happened.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses following an RTC in Allerton today, Monday May 31.

"Shortly before 10.30am, emergency services were called to the junction of Hylton Road and Verney Crescent to reports that a black Ford Fiesta had been in a collision with a 12-year-old boy on an electric scooter.

"The child has been taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for treatment and his condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

"The driver of the stopped at the scene and is assisting police with the investigation.

"Hylton Road is currently closed between Heath Road and Hardinge Road but is expected to reopen shortly."
