Boy, 12, in hospital after being hit by a car while cycling to school

A 12-year-old boy is in hospital with suspected broken bones after being hit by a car.

The boy was riding his bike on Pembroke Road in Pembroke Dock at around 8.30am on Tuesday morning when the incident occurred.

He was knocked off his bike, according to police, near Ysgol Harri Tudur, where he is a Year 8 pupil.

He was taken to Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen after the incident with suspected broken bones.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Polic said: “We attended a road traffic collision at Pembroke Road, Pembroke Dock, following reports a 12-year-old-boy was knocked off his bike by a car, at around 8.35am today (September 10).

“The boy has been taken to hospital with suspected broken bones. His injuries are not thought to be life-changing or life-threatening.”

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called today at approximately 8.32am to an incident involving a vehicle and bicycle in Pembroke Dock.

"We responded with one emergency ambulance and one patient was transported to Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen.

Police added that the road is now open as normal and that no action will be taken against the driver involved.
