Boy, 12, has teeth broken in sickening playground attack in Co Kilkenny

A 12-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after a sickening attack at a Kilkenny playground last week.

The young boy was set upon by a group of youths in a Callan playground last Thursday, June 25.

The boy sustained head and back injuries as well as having a number of teeth broken.

He was forced to go on a zipline after the original assault in which he fell and further injured himself, local radio station Beat 102/103 reports.

Gardai were called to the scene but no arrests have been made so far.

An investigation is underway - the boy is said to be badly shaken by the attack and is currently recovering from the injuries at home.

A garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: "Gardaí are investigating an incident that occurred at a playground on 25 June 2020 at 5.30pm.

"A male youth sustained a number of injuries as a result of the incident.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."
