Boy, 12, dies after being hit by car while riding his bike

A 12-year-old boy has died after being knocked off his bike by a car.

Cole Roper died from his injuries in hospital after he was involved in a serious incident on the A4049 between Aberbargoed and Pengam in South Wales.

The incident, involving a blue Vauxhall Astra, happened on Saturday at around 9.30pm.

It's believed Cole and another 12-year-old boy, who survived, were riding the same bike.

A spokesman said Cole was initially taken to Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil.

He was later transferred to the University Hospital Wales, Cardiff, where he was pronounced dead,reports Wales Online.

Cole's family have been notified and specialist officers are supporting his family.

Another 12-year-old boy, who was also involved in the incident, was treated at hospital for his injuries but has since been released.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Officers are requesting any motorists that used the road around this time to check if they have any dash cam footage that could help officers with the investigation.
