A 12-year-old boy has been charged by police after officers were attacked with petrol bombs in Derry.
Officers were initially called to a security alert in Moss Park near St Paul’s Primary School, which was being used as a polling station, at around 7pm.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police investigating disorder in the Moss Park area of Derry/Londonderry on Thursday 23rd May have charged a 12-year-old boy with possessing an article with intent to damage property and riotous behaviour.
"He is due to appear at Londonderry MC on Tuesday 18th June. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS."
Two 16-year-old boys also arrested in connection with the disorder on Thursday night have been released on bail pending further police enquiries.
Six petrol bombs, 20 paint bombs and two crates of empty bottles were recovered by police.
