A 12-year-old boy was beaten up by kids who filmed it for TikTok, a furious dad has said. The parent, who asked not to be named, said students followed his son home and threatened to stab him to death the day before the attack.
The dad said that incident was reported to the Year 7 youngster's school. But the very next day he was followed before being beaten while "eight or nine filmed it".
The dad said the incident had left his son "traumatised". He has not been back to school since, reports BirminghamLive.
The father has now hit out at Haybridge High School in Hagley, Stourbridge. The school has said they are working with the students, parents and police to investigate what happened.
The dad, from Cradley Heath, said his son has undiagnosed ADHD and claims he has had trouble at the school since he started there. He picked his son up from the station after the attack, then stumbled across a video of the incident on TikTok that night, which he said had thousands of views.
The dad said: "He was threatened at school on Tuesday last week, some kids said they'd follow him home and stab him to death. We told the school, they said they'd sort it out, 'don't worry about it', and he was followed to the train station on Wednesday and beaten up.
"He was traumatised. He had redness to his neck where they dragged him down and they were filming it on a phone.
"He rang me, I had to go and pick him up, he was so upset. There were three lads then another eight or nine filming it and laughing about it. He was up until 4am crying himself to sleep.
"He told me they filmed it on their phones at the time and I got sent it by a parent of another pupil. It appeared on my TikTok newsfeed later and had thousands of views.
"The school said to leave it with them but we said we want the kid expelled. We're not bringing him back in while the kid is still there. The school said they were waiting for the police and had put the kid in isolation.
"We don't trust the school, this could happen to other children. They said send him in we'll keep him safe but they didn't.
"He wants to go back to school but we can't send him back until this is sorted. The school has failed him from day one. I blame the school completely for this, I know kids can be horrible but we told the school they were threatening to stab him, they could've let him leave earlier, or put a teacher on watch at the train station."
A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Officers have received a report of a young man having been assaulted in Hagley. It was reported to have happened around 4pm on Wednesday 16 March at the railway station. He suffered minor injuries.
"In connection with the incident, officers have also received a report of a young man having made a racist remark towards another young man at Haybridge High School, Hagley. Enquiries are ongoing."
A spokesman for Haybridge High School said: “We take all incidents concerning any member of our school community extremely seriously and we do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour. We are working with the students, their families and local police officers to investigate what is a highly complex situation which took place outside of school.”
