Boy, 11, who vanished during Storm Dennis found safe and well

A desperate search was launched in Scotland for an 11-year-old boy who vanished in Dundee overnight in horrific weather conditions.

Jacob Newton was not dressed appropriately for the winds and heavy rain, Police Scotland said, but announced this morning that he had been found "safe and well".

He had not been seen since 9.30pm last night.

Police Scotland revealed that Jacob "has been traced safe and well" and thanked the public for their assistance.

Police Scotland's Inspector Mahboob Ahmad, of West Bell Street station,  earlier said: "We are very concerned for Jacob's safety and wellbeing - as are Jacob's family and friends, understandably.

"He is an 11-year-old boy and has not been seen since 9.30pm last night.

"The weather conditions are very poor and he is not dressed appropriately.

"I would urge anyone who has information on Jacob's whereabouts to contact Police Scotland immediately.

"If Jacob is reading this message, I would ask him to please contact his family, friends or the police and let us know that he is safe and well."
