Boy, 11, rushed to hospital after car overturned in Paisley road collision

An 11-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after a car ended up on its roof following a collision in a Paisley street.

Emergency crews raced to George Street around 1.30pm on Sunday after reports of a serious road accident.

Witnesses described seeing a blue car overturned at the site as police and fire crews locked down the area.

The road was closed for several hours as investigators pieced together what had happened.

As well as the 11-year-old boy, a woman 33, was also rushed to hospital following the accident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a collision involving two cars on George Street, Paisley, around 1.30pm on Sunday.

"Police, the ambulance service and fire service attended. There were no life-threatening injuries. A 33-year-old woman and 11-year-old boy who were within one car were taken to hospital as a precaution."
