An 11 year old boy had his bike stolen as he shopped for puppy pads after school.
Declan Adamson had gone to the shop on his bike, which he received for Christmas last year, when a man made off with it.
The boy left his Carrera mountain bike outside as he quickly popped into the One Below shop on St Chad's Parade in Kirkby around 3pm today.
Declan's mum Bekah Smith said her son was left 'shaken' by the incident.
The 31-year-old told the ECHO : "Just after school I got a phone call off a security guard saying my son was shook up [sic].

"A fella had came out and stole his bike [sic]. He hardly goes out."
After what Bekah describes as a "horrible year" for the family, she decided to get the family a puppy in an attempt to lift everyone's spirits.

With the new puppy at home, Declan went to the local shop to pick up some puppy pads.
Bekah said: "We got a puppy to lift our spirits, he went to get puppy pads after school.
"He's had a really tough year, when he first started secondary school he broke his arm.
"[The bike] was his Christmas present as well!"
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were notified of the theft of a Carrera mountain bike which had been left outside the One Below shop on St Chad’s Parade in Kirkby at around 3pm today, Tuesday 13th April.
"CCTV enquiries are in the process of being carried out.
