Boy, 11, hit by Mercedes before school is rushed to hospital

A schoolboy was hit by a car during the morning rush hour.

The 11-year-old was hit by a black Mercedes on Mather Avenue, Allerton at around 8.30am on Tuesday, February 8.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the road was partially closed, near the junction at Storrsdale Road, while enquiries took place.

The boy was taken to hospital and is thought to have suffered minor injuries.

Police confirmed the driver of the Mercedes stopped at the scene and was helping officers with their investigation.

A spokesperson for Merseyside police said: "At around 8.30am this morning (Tuesday 8 February) emergency services were called to a report of a collision involving an 11-year-old pedestrian and a car on Mather Avenue, Allerton.

"The 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with minor injuries.

"The driver of a black Mercedes has stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

"Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact @MerPolCC on Twitter or ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook with reference 135 of 8 February.
