Boy, 11, hit by car on Smithdown Road as police cordon off street

Police cordoned off a section of Smithdown Road earlier after an 11-year-old boy was hit by a car.

Officers were called to the scene of the incident on Smithdown Road, near Holmes Street, in Wavertree, on Thursday.

The force said they were called to an RTC involving a car and an 11 year-old pedestrian.

A police spokeswoman told the ECHO: "The boy suffered from a leg injury during the incident."

The extent of the boy's injuries or the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently not known.

A police cordon was put in place along a section of the street, on the corner of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street.

Pictures show several officers at the scene and a police car parked up outside the shop Zabka.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "We are dealing with an RTC on Smithdown Road involving a car and an 11 year-old male pedestrian who has a leg injury."
