Boy, 11, dies after falling ill at primary school in west London

A 11-year-old boy has died after falling ill at a primary school in west London.

Police were called to reports of a child taken unwell at Cherry Lane School in West Drayton at 11.50am on Wednesday.

The schoolboy was rushed to a west London hospital, where he died shortly after 1.30pm.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said his death is being treated as "unexplained" however it is not believed to be suspicious.

The boy's next of kin have been informed.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “The death is currently being treated as unexplained, although at this early stage, it is not believed to be suspicious.

“Officers are liaising with the school and local partners. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Cherry Lane School issued an announcement online saying they would send out an update on Thursday.
