Boy, 10, who went missing on way to school found safe and well after police search

A 10-year-old boy who went missing this morning on his way to school in north London has been found safe after a police search.

Demetrace Nyakana had disappeared some time after 8.20am today while walking from the Lytchett Estate, Enfield, wearing a Carterhatch Junior School uniform, according to a Met Police spokesperson.

He never arrived at the school on Carterhatch Lane, which is just under a mile from the estate.

Enfield Police had tweeted an appeal for help in finding the schoolboy at lunchtime, sharing two photos.

But at 8.39pm posted again to say he had been found.

"Thank you all very much. 10- year old Demetrace was found and is safe and well. It’s greatly appreciated sharing the post," the force said.

In the appeal at 12.40pm, a police spokesperson said: "Police are appealing to trace 10-year-old missing Demetrace Nyakana.

"He was last seen at 8.20am on the Lytchett Estate.

"Please call the police with any sightings."
