Boy, 10, 'extremely upset' after being verbally abused about his disability on Ayrshire street

Police are hunting a teenage suspect who verbally abused a 10-year-old boy about his disability.

He made the vile slur in Cumnock about 4.15pm on Friday, February 26.

A group of youths were walking at the junction of Drumbrochan Road and Barrhill Road when one of the group shouted the abusive comments towards the victim.

The male responsible is around 13 to 15 years of age and was wearing dark clothing.

Police Constable Connell, from Cumnock Police Office, said: “The victim was with his mum at the time of the incident and both were left in an extremely upset state.

"Enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who saw this taking place or has any information to get in touch and I also ask any motorists with dash-cams who were in the area to please check back their footage in case they captured anything which could help identify the person responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cumnock police office quoting incident number 2368 of Friday 26th February 2021.
