Boy, 10, dragged to floor by Doberman-style dog in horrific park attack

A young boy has been left with horrific injuries after being dragged to the floor by a Doberman-style dog.

George Parker was left with deep wounds across his back and side after the vicious attack in a park in Tameside, Greater Manchester.

His mum, Catherine O'Neill, took the 10-year-old to hospital after the assault on Monday evening at 7.30pm.

The 34-year-old supermarket manager told the Manchester Evening News: "When he came back to the house, his top was ripped to shreds.

"He had blood marks all over him. He lifted his top up and I saw all the scratches and cuts.

"He said he'd gone onto the field and asked the owner if he was friendly. The dog was off the lead.

"The owners got hold of the dog and walked off.

"The children said it was a black and brown dog. I phoned 101. He was crying and was upset. He was a bit quiet, which is not like George.

"He's normally very active, he's always playing. He was putting on a brave face.

"I'm just really annoyed. There's no way I would leave a child like that. I'm more mithered by the injury to his side. It's not good is it?"

She added: "He's 10. I hope he's not going to be scared of dogs. I wouldn't want it to happen to anyone else. If you let your dog off the lead, it shouldn't be dangerous."

Greater Manchester Police has been contacted for comment.
