Boxing news: Josh Taylor dismisses Freddie Roach's influence on Ivan Baranchyk

Josh Taylor insists legendary trainer Freddie Roach will have no bearing on his world title fight with Ivan Baranchyk.

Scot Taylor will challenge for the Belarusian's IBF super-lightweight belt in Glasgow on Saturday night.

It will be Baranchyk's first fight under Roach - but Taylor is not concerned.

"Seven weeks with Freddie Roach is not enough time - if anything it's a bit of a disadvantage," he said.

"It's not enough time to link up with a new trainer and to get to know him, and for him to know your strengths and weaknesses."

Victory for Taylor will also take him into the World Boxing Super Series final, and he is confident of success.

Josh Taylor winning first world title next month will be just the beginning

"He's very dangerous. He comes forward, every punch has got intent behind it," he added.

"He's strong, fit and is in good shape. He's going to come and have a good go but I'm more than prepared for anything he brings to the table.

"I believe I've got an answer for everything that he does.

"It's the moment I've dreamed for, becoming world champion. This is by far the biggest night of my life, it's huge."

Baranchyk, meanwhile, expects to send Taylor - and his fans - packing.

"I am going to beat Taylor by beating him again and again and then beating him some more!" he said.

"I know that Taylor is a talented fighter and that the fight is in his backyard, but I am looking forward to putting on a spectacular performance and defending my title. The boxing fans in Glasgow can expect me to beat up their hero!

"Boxing is life for me and I work hard every day. I am always working.

"I will do what I need to do to get that trophy. But, for now, all of my attention is on defeating Taylor."
