Boxing news: Daniel Dubois vows to beat Joe Joyce after knocking out Richard Lartey

Highly-rated young heavyweight Daniel Dubois vowed to beat Joe Joyce after knocking out Richard Lartey inside four rounds.

The Greenwich fighter moved his professional record to 11-0 with a demolition of his Ghanaian opponent at the SSE Wembley Arena.

Dubois avoided any distractions amid rumours of a huge all-British dust-up with new Frank Warren stablemate Joe Joyce.

Lartey, who almost had to pull out of the fight due to visa issues in midweek, proved an awkward opponent and troubled Dubois briefly as both men traded big punches in the third round.

But Dubois was always the better fighter and gathered his composure to down Lartey with a peach of a right hand with a minute left in round four.

He could now face Joyce later this year with the pair ordered to fight for the vacant British title by the British Boxing Board of Control - and Dubois insists he would come out on top.

Dubois told BT Sport: "It was a fire fight, and I was still basically trying to hit him with shots.

"I let my mind go then I thought, you know what, I need to pick the right shots.

"I hit him with a good shot and caught him on the point where I wanted to all night, so it was a lesson learnt.

"The guy was rugged and tough and strong. He swung but it was lessons learnt again - just to be careful at all times.

"There's big fights lined up.

"If I just keep win and keep progressing, I'm getting closer to these guys. If I keep winning then I'll be sharing a ring with these guys soon.

"Definitely, I'll beat him (Joyce). As long as the preparation is right, I stay focused, listen to the people around me, I'll beat anyone I believe."

Joyce, meanwhile, felt Dubois was troubled at times before eventually coming through to maintain his winning record.

"He got the job done," Joyce said. "It was a very entertaining fight.

"He got a little bit troubled by Lartey at some points, but he took him out of there.

"It's an option (fighting Dubois). I've got a fight in Stevenage on May 18. That's a good warm-up, then I should be out again in July.

"Potentially, I'm going to speak to Frank (Warren) and my managers and we'll see what's out there."

Elsewhere at the SSE Arena, Sunny Edwards stopped Pedro Matos with a superb performance as he closes in on a world title shot.
