Boxing news: Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs pulled apart at weigh-in

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs needed to be pulled apart during the weigh-in for their middleweight clash.

Canelo and Jacobs fight each other in the unification bout on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Jacobs, aka 'The Miracle Man, is a two-time world middleweight champions and currently holds the IBF belt, with the legendary Canelo holding the WBA and WBO titles.

After the pair had weighed-in, Jacobs hitting the limit of 160lbs while his Mexican opponent was 0.5lbs lighter, it got fractious during the traditional staredown.

They went forehead-to-forehead as tempers boiled over before Canelo pushed the American, leading to angry shouting and the duo being split up.

“I’m from Brownsville [in Brooklyn, New York]. I never did, and I never will. Listen, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

"I feel like I’m the best middleweight in the world, and that motherfucker right there, he gonna get it. Let’s do this Saturday night! Period! Bumping me with that big-ass head, it’s time to put on.”

Alvarez added : "I see fear, and that was fear right there what he did.

"For me and my people, my team and for my fans, it’s very important [to win]. This is the challenge we have, but I’m ready for it, and we’re going to win.”

"There’s no buddy-buddy. There’s no amigos. There’s none of that. It’s just going in there and taking care of business.

Boxing news: Canelo Alvarez explains why he will beat Daniel Jacobs

"Somebody could go in there and kill you. Somebody can go in there and do real damage to you, to where I can’t go back to my family and have a normal life.

"I can get really, really hurt. So, I don’t take this thing lightly. I mean, yeah, what you see on the outside is just me being cool and casual.

"But, you know, at the end of the day, I wanna prove that I’m the best – by being the best version of me, but by doing damage, most importantly.”
