Boxing news: Anthony Joshua sends message to Tyson Fury after Deontay Wilder snub

Anthony Joshua wants a face-to-face meeting with Tyson Fury in a bid to thrash out an all-British super-fight.

Joshua takes on Andy Ruiz Jr in New York on Saturday night in the latest defence of his heavyweight world titles.

He had hoped to then unify the division against Deontay Wilder but the American has opted to instead rematch Luis Ortiz later this year.

That has left Joshua in need of an opponent for his second fight of 2019.

Fury takes on Tom Schwarz on June 15, six months after his controversial draw with Wilder in Los Angeles.

Fury was dropped twice by the champion but rose on both occasions only to be denied victory by the judges.

And Joshua wants to see if a deal can be thrashed out by the two rivals.

"I want to sit down with Fury and see what it will take to make the fight, because Wilder is fighting Ortiz," he told JOE .

"As a fan of the sport it would be easy to fight Joe Bloggs the next five times and try and sell out an arena but I feel like I'd be robbing myself.

"I want to challenge the likes of Fury and Wilder. I’m going to try and get a meeting with Fury now and see what it will take to get the fight made."

Fury was due to fight Wilder for a second time earlier this month but was unable to agree terms.

He instead signed a five-fight, £80million deal with US broadcaster ESPN, a contract that could scupper Joshua's hopes of a showdown given the champion is tied to streaming service DAZN.

Joshua is most likely to face either Kubrat Pulev, Dillian Whyte or Oleksandr Usyk in the autumn.
