Boxing Legend Roberto Duran Receives Successful Pacemaker Implant Surgery

Roberto Duran, aged 72, had a successful pacemaker implant surgery.

Boxing legend Roberto Duran, aged 72, underwent a successful pacemaker implant surgery after being hospitalized over the weekend due to health issues related to an atrioventricular blockage. His family shared the positive news on Duran's Instagram account, expressing gratitude for the successful procedure.

According to Duran's son, Robin Duran, the decision for the pacemaker was made as his father's heartbeats were slightly irregular due to an artery obstruction. Despite concerns about a potential heart attack or mortality risk, Robin Duran reassured that his father was stable upon arrival at the hospital in Panama City, where medical examinations revealed the blockage.

Renowned for his accomplishments in the boxing world, Duran was a four-weight world champion before retiring in 2002 at the age of 50. Known by his moniker 'Hands of Stone,' Duran maintains an active presence in the boxing community, often traveling internationally to participate in autograph signings and boxing event promotions.
