Boxing headlines as Jake Paul contract clause revealed and Anthony Joshua next fight confirmed

Here are your boxing headlines from Thursday, November 4.

Anthony Joshua to fight Olesandr Usyk in spring

Oleksandr Usyk has confirmed he his fight with Anthony Joshua will take place in the spring.

Joshua was soundly defeated by the Ukrainian in September, clinching the Brit's three heavyweight titles and halting any plans of a unification bout against Tyson Fury.

After the defeat, Joshua quickly activated his rematch clause as he plans to win back the belts he lost, something he did previously following a surprising defeat against Andy Ruiz Jr.

When coming up against Usyk though, AJ never looked to be in control and his defeat was comprehensive.

Many have already given Joshua little chance of winning a rematch, though the Brit has travelled across the United States looking for a new coach following questionable preparation for his initial bout against Usyk.

Former UFC champion challenges Tyson Fury

Former UFC king Junior dos Santos has called out Fury after signing a deal with S-Jam Boxing.

The legendary heavyweight fighter Dos Santos was released from UFC in March after spending 12 years fighting for the MMA promotion company.

Dos Santos won the heavyweight title in 2011 against Cain Velasquez and defended it once, against Frank Mir, before losing to Velasquez in a rematch.

He challenged for the title again in 2017 but came up short against Stipe Miocic - seen as one of the greatest heavyweights in UFC history.

The Brazilian lost his last four UFC fights all by knockout, of which included fights with current champion Francis Ngannou and interim champion Ciryl Gane.

Dos Santos has made appearances for professional wrestling promotion All Elite Wrestling since his UFC release, but has now signed a managerial deal with S-Jam Boxing.

Jake Paul's 'no knockout clause' confirmed

Conor McGreagor's teammate Dillon Danis has reaffirmed claims that Jake Paul is not allowed be knocked out in his boxing bouts, as well as dubbing upcoming opponent Tommy Fury as 'terrible'.

Paul is due to face-off against Fury in Florida later this year, having defeated Anthony Taylor on the undercard of Paul's victory over Tyron Woodley.

Following that bout in Cleveland, there were claims that part of Woodley's contract for the bout stated that the UFC veteran was not allowed to knockout Paul.

While that didn't mean the fight was allegedly fixed, it did supposedly mean that Woodley had to take a step back when he had his opponent on the ropes.

Danis is now the latest to claim that is indeed the case, as well as making it clear that he doesn't rate Fury highly - stating Paul was 'smart' to take the fight.

"That is true. Tyron Woodley, that's why he hasn't said anything about it, he had to sign an NDA not to say anything about that. So it was like a double rule, you know?" He told Plan Bri Uncut.
